Bejesus! Just watched the Ireland game - what a fantastic performance! No luck involved, sheer dogged persistence and lots of skill in defence and attack.
For a while it looked as if NZ were going to do their usual when they recovered from 24-8 to 31-29 with 15 mins to go, but Ireland regained their momentum and won convincingly. Well done the Paddies!

Nothing short of abysmal by Wales - incredible that they only lost by 24 points!
Zero clue in attack and little ability in defense. Whilst some past successes - notably 2008, 2012 & 2013, it's high time a long hard look is taken at the coaching staff/set-up. On this display we certainly won't be providing much input to the British and Irish Lions tour next year! Our record now stands at a dire 3 wins in 13 matches

Conversely, Ireland should provide the entire bl**dy team!! What a massive display by them to topple the AB's 40-29! Thus ending a world record 18 match win streak and also giving Ireland their 1st victory over the AB's in 29 attempts stretching back to 1905. As mentioned above, not an ounce of luck - a huge 1st 40 display and a dogged 2nd 40 performance. HUGE, HUGE Hand to the Men From The Emerald Isle!

Has to be said though, the Aussies were terrific and the winning margin actually quite flattered the Welsh

What a performance from the Irish too, they played like men possessed first half.
It started looking a bit ominous going into the last quarter, but they dug deep again and took a thoroughly deserved victory.

Yes, what a fantastic performance - one of the greatest moments in Irish sporting history. I thought we were going to run out of steam as normal in the last quarter, but how wrong I was - all credit to all the players and especially to Joe Schmidt for getting them in this shape and instilling the self-belief!!

just discovered I had outed myself as a Rugby fan on the first page of this thread in 2012,
before I came to Hua Hin. (see quote)

G'day my fellow RUGBY aficionados,

unfortunately never got a chance to play this great game myself.
Also as a one-legged hooker I'd run the risk of being lynched by my
team mates for keeping on collapsing the scrum!

Rugby started in Germany pretty early, but unfortunately never caught
on, and stayed a fringe sport, totally ignored by the media.

I am ashamed having to admit that I started as a fan of American Football.
I got to know and like the sport during my first stay in the States in 1965
at the age of 15.
Those were the days when Vince Lombardi's (Lombardi Trophy) GREEN BAY
PACKERS ruled the NFL.
Nowadays my interest is only historical, confined to the sixties.

When cable tv started in Germany in the early 90s, one of the new specialised
sports channels televised the Rugby World Cup.
I have been hooked ever since!

At best I am an enthusiastic dilettante compared to you lot.
I usually fail to spot the 'advantage", but that does not diminish my enjoyment
in any way.

I have no local or club references.
My interest is therefore confined to Rugby internationals.

Even at risk to my physical well-being I am brave enough to admit
that I usually support the Wallabies.
I have a lot of respect for the All Blacks though.

Hoping to be accepted into the brotherhood nevertheless!

On UK TV yesterday they were featuring a new helmet designed to decrease the danger of concussion and brain injuries developed by the medical profession and endorsed by Alex Corbesiere(sp) an English international. It diminishes 90 degree impacts by over 70% and glancing impacts by over 50%. It doesn`t impair vision and costs £107. Seems like progress.

Can't take it away from Satan's Side, masterclass performances from Ben Youngs and Billy Vunipola , but good God, what a dreadful performance by the Boks - I can't ever remember seeing them that bad (No.7 du Toit a 2 try give away)....... please turn out like this against Wales.
