Reading through the reports in this morning's paper, certainly some surprising stats considering the scoreline...

I think the following clearly shows England's immense defence (turnovers/tackles made) won them the game (although Tackles Missed seems to contradict that ): -

Possession: - Crims 71% Beelzebub's XV 29%
Territory: - Crims 74% Beezebub's XV 26%
Tackles Made: - Crims 58 Beelzebub's XV 200!
Tackles Missed: - Crims 9 Beelzebub's XV 31 (Again a surprising stat)
Offloads: - Crims 11 Beelzebub's XV 4
Meters Made: - Crims 501 Beelzebub's XV 226
Turnovers Conceded: - Crims 24 Beelzebub's XV 10 (this is the most telling for me)

Did you not see the game, pharvey? It was all about the defence... The tackles missed stat is not really surprising when you compare it to the tackles made. And when a tackle was missed, there was invariable someone else waiting to cover it.

The most crucial stats of all are missing: tries scored and the final score!!

Perhaps I have misunderstood but that would be difficult bearing in mind some of your previous comments about England.

Their title is a bit miss-leading as there always has been a bonus point system - this is just a modified version in the hopes of creating a more exciting free-running game.

Not too sure I agree with the game in the UK though......

Well played the RED ROSE a good game and with such a young side the future looks god.

Wales got well beaten but the All Blacks are number 1 and by some margin too - and no Six Nation side is currently good enough to beat them. Next year it is the Lions visiting them and it will be remarkable if they win any game - I have been on the last 2 Lions Tours to NZ and they have a mountain to climb IMO, although players in the NH have much improved .

Didn't see the Lillywhites (notice no religious inference ), but crickey - 44 vs 40! It must have been one hell of a game and I'll be looking to download. As much as I hate to say it, 3-0 fair play!!

As for "God's Own" (the ones with the red shirts), we were stuffed . Although we weren't in my opinion as bad as the scoreline suggests on the third test, "The Blackness" were unbelievably fast, targeted out of position Welsh defence and were simply a class above at times...... there is a reason they are number one in the world.

England are now number two ( ) but even they have some way to go to catch these guys........

I had my doubts, but it looks like making Hartley captain was an inspired move, for both Hartley and England.
England are deservedly no. 2, but probably still well behind NZ - it would be nice to find out how far, but that's going to have to wait a while.

The autumn internationals in November are a way off, and we play SA, Fiji, Argentina and the Aussies. Ireland get to play the All Blacks (twice - once in Chicago FFS!! ), as do France and Italy.

Kicking for position against NZ is not a good ploy, they turn defence into attack with just a couple of passes.

Absolutely!! Wales were kicking possession away for a pastime! Same thing happened in the first two test matches - they simply don't learn. That said, they were also having all kinds of problems in the lineout....
