Flag shop in HH?
Flag shop in HH?
Hey everybody does anybody know where there is a flag store that sells international flags or that can make/import flags? I am looking for a few historical Brazililan flags and can't find a flag shop. Thanks in advance.
Re: Flag shop in HH?
You have hit upon a very interesting question that has had me puzzled for years. There is no shortage of Thai flags, both national and ceremonial, and yet I have never come across a shop that sells flags; Thai or otherwise. So where on earth do all the flags come from and where do people buy them from?!

The Thai//Thai related flags are purchased in stationery shops.

You're correct BB, nearly every stationary shop I've been into sell the sort of Thai flags you see everywhere.
For international flags I would imagine Bangkok is your best bet, or alternatively, Ebay or Amazon.
You could also try asking around between the tailors in town. I'm sure they could produce the flag/s you're after.

There is a shop at the bottom of Chomsin a few doors before Buffalo Bills that sells different flags and also material.

There is a stationary shop in Chomsin Road where you can order flags from the whole world.
If you come from the Sra Song Road you will pass the Chat Chai market, turn right on the corner and walk a few yards to their shop.
You have to order a minimum of 5 flags when you're there and I think it took around a week before the flags are finished.

This is Thailand. Would you expect to find an international flag shop in Smalltown, South Dakota? I guess not. A good option is an internet search.

Yes, good point, come to think of it I've never seen a dedicated flag shop anywhere in the world although I suppose such a thing might exist somewhere. Incidentally, why do expats in Thailand feel the need to fly their nations flag outside? It's not an embassy so it's inappropriate.Lung Per wrote:This is Thailand. I can understand why some expat bar owners might want to fly their own flags - although i never did myself. Football scarves etc can serve the same purpose! But yes Steve overall it is inappropriate IMO. Especially in Thailand where respect is so important.
To turn things around - the only places in the UK where I would accept a foreign flag is on Embassies. Otherwise - apart from small flag stickers etc on foreign owned shops I'm sorry but it's a no - no.

It was quite normal in Bristol. My wife flew her Thai flag for 20 odd years.

I've known of one farang who was told to take his country's flag down at his home - Swiss, if I remember rightly.
The Thai person who complained was a fairly big wig at the tessabahn and lived opposite so others may be luckier flying their flags.
