Vana Nava Hua Hin City 1 - 0 Thonburi City

Yes, they made very hard work of a game they dominated. I only felt the Hua Hin goal was seriously threatened once.

I think they'll always miss a character like Lampty, but Stephens shows what a good centre half he is when Lampty isn't there.

A very well taken goal by Yongsak. A lovely lob over the keeper.

When you say Right Back, are you talking No. 35, Kanchit? I actually thought he had quite a good game.

What are we going to do with Anucha? Still a favourite of mine, but off the boil at the moment. Actually, I though he was very well marked in the first half, and then, when they left him alone in the second half, he played some wonderful balls. However, he should have scored at least twice in the final quarter, and made a complete hash of it.

Still, 3 points are 3 points, and roll on next Saturday when we're away to Singburi - probably our furthest trip of the season. I hope to be there.

Hi Big Boy. No, I am talking about the guy with the ponytail (Is it Teenawat?). I think he lacks confidence after being dropped for a few games. His head went down in the second half and was just waiting to be hooked off - but the Coach was wanting us to suffer him for the full 90 minutes. Anucha is way off the boil isn`t he!! He really should be doing a lot more. He found a bit more space in the second half when the number 39 came on. Surely the Coach can give these 2 a chance to form a partnership, but I have no faith in him to do so. Can we adapt and play different systems? I don`t think the coach has much of an idea!! We were outnumbered in midfield in the second half and our numbers 6 and 21 (the goalscorer) were out muscled in there which allowed Thonburi to attack us down the flanks. I sound critical but that is why football is such a great game. We all question decisions and have different opinions. I am so confident when Lampty is back there that we will not concede many goals but it is the creating and scoring of them that is where we have a problem.Keep the chins up guys we are nearly there!!!

From what I can see, both Muangkan and Petchaburi only drew yesterday, so its all wide open at the top again, with just 6 games to go

Do you mean this guy?

IMHO he didn't have that bad a game, although he did play a couple of bad balls. However, I don't think anybody was perfect.

I'm surprised you thought he was the right back. He was in midfield as far as I was concerned. Maybe it looked bad as he ran back to cover for somebody else.

Anyway, we've closed the gap at the top to just 2 points - roll on next week at Singburi, a win there could put us back on top.

Anyone got a link to the official (not Facebook) Thai football league website? Went to see Prachuab FC on Sunday and would like to look up the fixture list.

Found this but it only has the top two divisions: http://www.thaileaguefootball.com/

Hi Big Boy, that`s the guy. Well if he is a midfield player my name is David Beckham!! I don`t think Hua Hin can play with 3 at the back because all 3 have to be outstanding players and we only have 1 and that is Lampty. We missed him on Saturday although the guy that was his replacement was half decent. Wing backs as they like to be called nowadays need to be able to get up and down the full length of the pitch for 90 minutes. Look at Ashley Young since Van Gaal took over at Man United, he is a different player now but only time will tell if he can last the pace though!! Glad to see we had a few shots at goal yesterday but do you have any idea who scored? I know it is an old cliche but it is getting near "squeaky bum time" with only 6 games to go but it helps that our nearest challengers might be losing their bottle at the right time for Hua Hin. Come on boys, 3 more points at the weekend to put more pressure on them.

Singburi 3 - 1 Vana Nava Hua Hin City

With just 5 games to go, it's squeaky pants time

I went to suffer this match. Waiting for the supporters bus I checked the weather forecast for Singburi - Heavy Rain with Thunderstorms, although it was due to clear by afternoon. I immediately thought back to Looktabfah, and Hua Hin's inability to play their style of football on a lake.

When we arrived, my fears were confirmed. Everywhere was totally waterlogged. Where was the groundsman to make the waterlogged pitch playable? - TIT.

DSC06801.jpg
One thing better than Looktabfah was we were allowed to sit in the covered stand, although the Hua Hin support seemed to outnumber Singburi support.

The team seemed amazed to see travelling Farang support in the stands.

The usual opening paraphernalia

and we were about to start. Still no Lampty, but worse still, Kissana was back to partner Anucha up front. All hopes that this pair might have kissed and made were soon dispelled. Not once through the entire match did Kissana pass the ball to Anucha, who on a couple of occasions was in a brilliant scoring position. I will say though, Anucha was guilty of playing some lovely balls through to Kissana, so half of the partnership is back.

The first half was fairly even, in fact I'd have given it to Hua Hin on points apart from a freak goal on the half hour.

After the goal, Hua Hin pushed further forward, and became vulnerable on the left, with Theerawat often finding himself vulnerable being attacked by 2 very fast runners - how much were we missing Lampty to settle things at the back?

All the way through, Hua Hin's short passing game was regularly being thwarted by the depth of water, which became very apparent when the floodlights came on - puddles reflecting the lights like hundreds of little mirrors on the pitch.

A special mention has to be made for the Hua Hin keeper (not sure of his name), who made at least 4 incredible saves.

After recent moans about Anucha, I watched him very critically yesterday. Nearly every ball played to him was played short. Whenever he had the ball, he used it brilliantly, and set up his teammates on a few occasions. It's a shame the manager can't kick Kissana's arse to do the same.

Player of the match for me was Owusu (not always for the right reasons) i.e.

- I though he was going to be sent off in the first half when he landed a lovely left hook on the Singburi number 2 right in front of the ref. For some reason, the ref waved play on.

- He scored Hin Hin's [Edit] equalizer consolation (equalizer was wishful thinking  ).

- I've never noticed the dirty nature of his play before, but he was on a mission to hurt as many Singburi players as possible. He even stuck a nut on one of them and got away with it. His aggression was so much that Singburi put on a Mike Tyson look alike to sort him. This guy went on the pitch and felled him immediately (and was booked for it), but it was certainly deserved. However, with the booking, the Tyson look alike backed off for the rest of the match, and Owusu resumed his battle relentlessly.

- Generally, Owusu was all over pitch, and played some good football as well at times.

A very disappointing game, which made it a long journey home. Depending upon other results, it could drop Hua Hin to 3rd or 4th place.

Next home game is against Globlex TWD on 23 Aug 14, K.O. 16:00hrs.

It sounds like another bad day at the office, Big Boy, doesn`t it!! The problem is we CANNOT have any more of them otherwise we have blown it once again. What you saw this week was what I saw last week regarding Owusu, Anucha and Theerawat. Owusu worked tirelessly as did Anucha and Theerawat was found out. No lessons are being learnt by the coach or the players. I cannot for the life of me understand him. Is he being told by someone that Kissana has to play? The Number 39 that came on last week should be given a chance as he looked like he could make a difference. I said earlier in the week that it is "squeaky bum time" and if we didn`t realise it last week we certainly should now. Back to basics and get Kissana to get a grip of get lost!!
