I can't believe that Brazil don't have better options to replace Hulk and Fred. The team are carrying those two big time.

Carrying Hulk - seriously? I know I'm not an expert in Wendyball, but he didn't seem to do too badly last night!! Should also be big questions over the refereeing - I assume Hulk's yellow card will be revoked?

OK. Admit one of the 3 was a dive, but the other 2 were not.
Are you having a giraffe....? The play acting and diving is mind-blowing in Wendyball. Holland should have had a number of cards against them for blatant cheating, as should the majority of teams.
That said, must admit to enjoying a few of the games so far - Columbia and Rodriguez (?), Costa Rica et al adding some spice. Looking forward to Germany going out tonight.....
Look out for Wales in Wendy Cup 2050..... We might just qualify by then

What should I say about the 1st half? Germany very clinical for the first 40 minutes (normal I guess for them) and seemed to want to set up the perfect shot rather than taking many, then started to press it better in the last 5 minutes. Germany is controlling but Algeria is fast and had opportunities but they looked tired and standing on defense towards the end of the half. Let's see what changes in style in store for the 2nd half. Score at half 0-0. Pete

Algeria put up a really, really good show, but.... too many unnecessary offsides when in good possession and they were crying out for a decent final ball. They finally managed that - in the last minute of extra time. It was pretty frustrating to watch at times.
2-0 Germany after 30 minutes of extra time. 1st goal right after start of extra time, and second a minute or so before the end. You can't help feeling badly for whomever loses at this stage. Germany's defense was very strong throughout, or Algeria had a weak offense, you choose.
I've yet to see any team that I could rank as the strongest in this tournament...has anyone? Pete

^ Damn, Germany scored their second goal with 1 minute left and I went out for my morning swim. and didn't even see or know about the Algeria score until now. Lesson: stay glued to the tube until the whistle blows. Pete

Now, let's see what the Germans can do. Pete
Another entertaining match with end to end play. Nigeria put up a good showing and their disallowed goal was key to the result. France's Pogba looks a class player.
Seems to me that no team looks unbeatable, although favourites, I suppose because they are at home, Brazil are not particularly tearing the place up. Pleas don`t let Argentina win as they will see this as a sign from God that the Falklands belong to them.
The early match tonight is Argentina vs Switzerland at 2300, and USA vs Belgium at 0300. Both should be great games. Completion ends the Round of 16. Pete

Certainly more action in the final 8 or so minutes than in the entire preceding 2 odd hours.... which I'll never get back
Should have been played at a bl**dy water park with the amount of diving going on. What happens with these yellow cards after someone has obviously and deliberately dived - do they still stand?
Have to feel for Switzerland......

Both Switzerland and Argentina were poor and it was indeed, a poor game. Messi once again comes to the Argies rescue, but I can't see that before enough in the next round.
All yellow cards are carried forward. Get two and they miss the next game.

Seems very harsh if shown by TV replays that the guy blatantly dived and therefore shouldn't be a yellow card. One big example being the last free kick of the game where there didn't even seem to be any contact with the Swiss player.
Is there no citing in Wendyball as there is in rugby for example? I mean where a player can be cited for a professional foul, foul-play etc., etc. after the fact where the referee and linesmen have missed it in "real time".
[EDIT] Also where certain "errors" in refereeing can be corrected - i.e. a yellow card being rescinded so the player is not banned for the following game.....

I don't know what to say at the half. A spark of life when USA Yedlin at 20 years old came in for the injured Johnson. It's going to come down to fitness IMO and which defense can stay sharp in the heat. Belgium has had 8 corners and 9 shots to the USA 3 and 3. Pete
