........this brings out the question whether you are better off leasing a car in Thailand? It becomes increasingly popular in this country. 3 Year lease and out. Then you lease another one. Admitteldy I am not one of them but I can see the virtue of it

I think the high residual values probably makes buying new the best plan and trade in before it starts to require major repairs ie sell at the first sign of trouble if like me you are not too mechanically minded. I think the most surprising thing about Thailand is the price of second (third,fourth---)hand cars. I obviously have more Thailand surprises ahead of me.

One would think that after paying a premium price for a new car(1.3 million baht for a Pajero :shock: ) here in Thailand that the aftercare service and maintenance would be exceptional and extraordinary.
A person could buy a Mercedes-Benz for 1.3 million baht($40,000) in the U.S.

I guess the reason for the high price of used cars is because new cars are so expensive here.
