Re: The Car Challenge
Its styling is very like the Lotus Esprit but I can see that it's not the Esprit. Is it a Lotus concept car?

Yes to gull wing doors, No to Lotus but there's a very good reason why it looks like an Esprit.

I assume that it must be the same designer which doesn't help me much as I don't know who designed the Esprit.Frank Hovis wrote:Yes to gull wing doors, No to Lotus but there's a very good reason why it looks like an Esprit.

Re: The Car Challenge
I think it's OK to look up the Esprit designer, it might be a help.
I don't think the manufacturer of this car has ever featured in a Bond movie, which is slightly odd now that I've thought about it as they are very well known.

Re: The Car Challenge
Giorgetto Giugiaro ....wow what a CV. He designed for all of the majors. Unfortunately I could not resist looking at some of the other models and found the car.
I'll therefore step out

Re: The Car Challenge
I think that was the point, you thought it looked like an Esprit, you look at the Esprit's designer, you find the vast range of cars he's designed and one that looks like the Esprit is the right one.
I consider that to be an OK level of googling, yesterday I mistakenly found Siani's A310 when looking in the wrong place and thought that slightly unfair and it was late at night. At least you were looking in the right place.
If you think there's a bit more mileage in it for other forum users, then I'll give them an extra clue.
If the manufacturers had gone with this design, we might not have got Lagaay's hairdressers car. (feel free to search on Lagaay, make sure you spell it correctly or there might be some unintended consequences)

Re: The Car Challenge
Trivia alert
I of course needed to look this up and a car from this company has only intentionally appeared in a Bond movie once!!! Amazing considering it's size and importance. The car, not the model we are looking for, is seen briefly in the opening sequence of Die Another Day. It is destroyed in an explosion before the film actually starts.Frank Hovis wrote:I don't think the manufacturer of this car has ever featured in a Bond movie, which is slightly odd now that I've thought about it as they are very well known.

Re: The Car Challenge
With no more activity I'll give up the name.
It's a Porsche Tapiro.
You won't find it in Wikipedia because it doesn't have a page there but searching the internet will bring up a whole host of information.
If seventies car show models are your thing, this also provides pictures of the car too. http://grandnostalgic.com/2011/11/1970- ... he-tapiro/
It's a bit of a shame they couldn't find an old car show model for the final picture, a bit rough round the edges, most of the shine gone and sagging quite badly at the back.

Re: The Car Challenge
This is a bit of a cross between the car challenge and the history challenge.
Four questions
1. What make & model (a bonus for the 'tuners' designation) ?
2. What was it's maximum output ?
3. Who is a famous chap that drove it and claimed '[It is] the most powerful car on the road in Britain today'
4. Who is the not very famous chap standing next to it and what is he not very famous for?
