Arms/Weapons Competency Certificate. Where to obtain?

Post by MrPlum »

A friend has a requirement by a potential employer for an Arms Competency Certificate and I'm wondering if such a thing is available in Hua Hin or Thailand? I suggested he try the shooting range near the airport and ask them. Other than that, any suggestions?

MARSEC (Maritime Security), Was Just Curious as I have met up with so many here, There is ranges everywhere, That I have seen to shoot, depending on the CRED he needs, A certified firearms instructor, could verify and sign off, ask him what its exactly he needs, maybe can help, His Nat, and what structure he needs for can help out a lot

There are two ranges that I know of in Hua Hin, one up soi 6 quite a long way up turn right.
It's an army range very run down, when we were there they only had one type of semi automatic hand gun for hire.
If you want to do a fire arms corse this might well be different.

The other range is supposed to be on the right hand side heading to wards Cha Am near an old broken aeroplane. When are tuk tuk driver stopped and asked he was told only one range up soi 6 this info is incorrect and I would be interested in finding the other range or maybe someone could post a picture.

There is indeed a second shooting range which you'll see on your right if heading from HH to Cha-Am.
Kendo, the tuk-tuk driver only mentioned the one in soi 6 because, as far as I know, they aren't actually allowed to cross provincial borders without permission.

Yes, I think it is MARSEC. He's a qualified army instructor with 30 years experience of various weapons and is a tad frustrated that this is not considered enough. The head office is in Sri Lanka and they have suggested he go back to the UK to obtain the certificate. There must be an easier way.

Probably best if I send you this via pm. Thanks for the help.

Hi Kendo , the range at soi 6 is perhaps a bit rundown but have a nice scenery.
Ranges up to 50 m.
Membership fee for 1 year = 300 baht.
The one on the road to Cha-am is limited to 25 m , can rent some guns there but quite expensive.
A day permit = 100 baht.

I've been the shooting range besides the highway between HH and Cham Am. They have pistol, small calibor and MP5. A set include 10 bullets start from 350 Baht to 750 Bahn. This range is relatively small and the instructor does not speak good english. In general, it's OK.

I have also only used the range on the way to Cha Am. Correct mp5 in 9mm and 45 acp, Glock's Kimba and a 22 rifle.
They let me use my gun there last week. I don't think you will get signed off there though as very little english
