That's a shame. Even more so as we were originally thinking of having a round to identify illnesses from the latin names. But then thought - no Dr Mike's team will get 10/10 so we scrapped that idea! :P :P

Have a good night anyway!

Another good quiz, with a very good turn out last night. The questions were a little harder than usual, which kept the scores low. However, the low scores were not a bad thing, as they stopped anybody walking away with the honours too soon.

We thought the night was ours going into the last round. We were one point ahead, and thought that all we needed was a good final score and we'd be claiming the honours. A score of 10/11, and we were smiling ..................................... but then we remembered that 2 teams still had to play their joker - we ended up a respectable 3rd - 2 points behind the well deserved winners :banghead:

Thanks for the hard work Jim (a little easier next time please  ).

I can't eat the food, but apparently another nice treat at the interval.

Well done to everybody involved - a good night.

Big Thanks to Jim and Sue for a stellar quiz - most dont realize how long it takes to put together and its very much appreciated :thumb: and thanks to all who came along and supported the quiz - its very much appreciated

Good fun had by all, yep there was a little more headscratching this time but the result was right to the wire - well done to Barry and Jills team with a 100% score in last round, it was a proper hail mary dive down the inside at the last corner kinda win.... if only we had looked at the map in the last round properly :banghead:

Next quiz will be on the 20th December.

Look forward to revenge!

100% would have been fine. However, it was the 200% that did for us.

Thanks BB & thanks to all who turned up.

Plus of course thanks to JW and all the staff for their hard work.

Yes a few hard questions (and as said the only easy questions are those you know the answer) but hopefully a little 'educational' as well as good fun. Most previous quizzes have been more or less decided by round 8 or 9 so it was great that many teams were in with a shout at round 10.

This was the first time Sue & I have done a quiz (maybe the last 5555). We are back in UK after next week for 6 weeks so we will miss the December quiz but back for January.

Thanks again to ALL the teams for making a great evening :D

I'll probably take a beating here but this last session was the worst of all the ones I've been too.

Everybody loves a volunteer and so do I but I think this effort fell well short. Table after table of educated people could hardly come up with any correct answers in any of the rounds. I was bored to death and why I stuck it out to the end I do not know.

I thought the highlight of the evening was going to be the meal but that was as bland as it comes. White rice, white bread, some unseasoned stew of boiled potatoes with a little bit of chicken and broth. Anyone who thought that was a curry does not know what a curry is.

Maybe that should be a quiz question: What is a curry?

No, I don't need any cheese with my whine. I'm not the only one who feels this way but I'm not sure they will let anyone know. I'll be quiet and say no more.

It is a social evening and I did enjoy that aspect. I look forward to the next quiz night and a return to form.

Bit harsh CM7

OK, I've only been to two but hell man, it's a social gathering, the food is free, you are free to get up and go any time, those who want to take it seriously can, those that don't really care can, Also being a quizmaster/maam is not easy and a thankless job.

I think you should volunteer to do the next one mate

It's a shame that you feel that way, because volunteer or not, putting together a quiz is a really hard job. I've done a few in the past, and even though I've got the time, there is no way that i would want to put myself through that again.

With such a diverse cross section of Hua Hin expats and visitors, there is no way that you're going to ask the right questions every time. Personally, I'm a literary ignoramus, and sat through that round people watching as they walked outside the bar. I didn't complain. I thought it was a great challenge trying to work out the answers - sometimes we guessed right, other rounds we scored 2. It's a bit of fun - there's no prize at the end of it. Treat it that way.

There's gratitude for you :? . It was free, and this is the first bad report that I've heard about JW's quiz food. You can't please all of the people all of the time. There is an alternative menu that you could have purchased from if it was that bad. As I've said, I can't eat it anyway, but it smelt nice. My son actually commented on how nice the bread was.

That's the attitude that I always go out with - the quiz is a sideshow. If we do well, it's a bonus. When we came last, I certainly wasn't going to start complaining. We came last because we were not good enough - no other reason .............. or was it because the garlic bread was overcooked? :D

Well CM7 - Quite frankly a disgraceful attitude. Whilst I have not been able to attend one of the quizes, it is quite obvious from this forum & thread the effort and time people put into this event and how popular it is. Unfortunately for me, our visits to HH miss the quiz by days literally - however, I'll certainly be paying a visit to JW's purely because of the great reports, and in the hope that I can meet some forum members.

You obviously have no consideration or respect for others - whether it be the efforts of the quiz masters, the hosts, or others providing (free) time and or (free) food. You are without doubt in the minority with regards to your feelings regarding the quiz/JW's.

Sandemb, no doubt you will have a real good time at the quiz and you will meet some really cool expats. I must apologise for a tiny minority who have no manners or clue as to what pub quizzes are all about.
