At least England learnt something from San Marino. How to put 11 behind the ball, and not play football. It's only ever worked for San Marino once - why did Hodgeson think it would work for his team?
Championship Plymouth Argyle 1 - 2 Leeds Utd

Points 46; Position 23 RELEGATED

Hodgson wrote:What do you mean, do my methods translate?

“They translated from Halmstads to Malmo to Orebro to Neuchatel Xamax to the Swiss national team. So the question is quite frankly insulting, I suppose.

“To suggest that suddenly because you move from one club to another, the methods that have stood you in good stead for 35 years and made you one of the most respected coaches in the Europe suddenly don’t work.

“I find it very, very hard to believe that someone has even asked me that question.

Nah, I just find it funny that everybody was telling Liverpool fans how great he was and how them nasty scousers hounded out poor old Roy (self titled "one of the most respected managers in Europe"), we spotted his ineptness a mile off.

The media are having a go today saying he's taken England "back to the dark ages".

Funny how they change their tune when he's managing their precious England.

As I've said, Ingurland fans and the nobs in the media are welcome to him.

I don't wish any bad will on Hodgson, I just love seeing the media backtracking.

Don't take this as a defence of Hodgson, but I'm surprised you hadn't noticed that the media tend to do this with every England manager. Even the now revered Bobby Robson. I think I heard the commentator last night say that Hodgson's record over the first 10 games was second only to that of Graham Taylor...

In fairness, no matter who has the job, the gutter press are going to be gunning for him.

Roy has a fair few journos onside.

Do you think they'd have gone for 'Arry?

Let's be honest, whoever you have as manager, he still only has the same players to choose from and as the saying goes, "you can't make a silk purse from a sow's ear". Mind you, 'Arry would still have been my first choice, over uncle Roy!!

Definitely, I don't rate Redknapp particularly highly, as in top top tier, but he seems like a great motivator, which when they're only together for 5 days or so would be ideal.

I can't imagine Hodgson being inspiring in the dressing room and he's a tactical Dinosaur to boot.

Can't disagree with anything there.

He's only been in charge for 11 games ffs!!! & he's won 7 & drawn 4.
We also currently sit on top of our qualifying group

After suffering the past decade under Eriksson, McClaren & Capello :( , I'm prepared to give him a bit of time before i start joining the dissenters. :|

Yep and in four of those games we had one shot on target. Also we won't be top when Montenegro thrash San Marino.

It's not about the result , it's about the performances, tactics and set up.

Daft appointment.

That's my take on it as well.

England miss JT, distribution poor and too slow, Cleverly doesn't seem so clever and seemingly out of position, Carrick cannot move the ball quickly enough and I thought Cole looked drugged and Defoe is better as sub altthough I thought he worked his socks off, but no support. It was a very strange performance.

The Germany / Sweden game was great! Fancy giving away a 4 goal lead?

I really don't get the Cleverley hype, I just don't see what he adds, he's tidy enough but the media have gone into overdrive, he's 23 ffs, Gerrard and others had been ripping the league up for a couple of years at that age.

I'm sure we can allow Cole one iffy game in a hundred.

Not the World Cup I know, but England played well last night, probably won`t win the World Cup but going in the right direction under Roy Hodgson.
