Maybe a pregnant missus shouldn't be on the Binta... :tsk:

Big Boy, I seriously doubt that there are many pregnant wives who would enjoy being on Bintabaht. They would feel bad subjected to all the women there hooking the men in imo. I could be wrong, maybe your missus is different but mine wouldn't go there pregnant or not and I would think it would be intimidating for a woman carrying a baby.

Hua Hin has a lot to offer families outside the bar (sex) area and I suspect if you ask your missus, she would rather go to other areas of town also.

If you ever came out at night HHF you would see that Hua Hin is a family resort, and if you come out in march i will be back with wife, son, and daughter in her push chair.

The two things i would say to any newbie coming to town is watch the motor bikes and look out for the pavements and curbs.

I agree Kendo, outside Bintabaht and Selecam.

I suppose the key part of your response was:
Hua Hin has a lot to offer families outside the bar (sex) area
Yes, I've been a 'bad boy' in Thailand, but never in Hua Hin. Yes the sex is there, but it's not 'in your face' as it would be in Pattaya, or other similar areas. I can go down my local here in the UK, and men are kopping off with women (for cash or not, I don't know) - if such things didn't happen, then the human race would become extinct.
I seriously doubt that there are many pregnant wives who would enjoy being on Bintabaht. They would feel bad subjected to all the women there hooking the men in imo. I could be wrong, maybe your missus is different but mine wouldn't go there pregnant or not and I would think it would be intimidating for a woman carrying a baby.
I've been down there many times with my pregnant daughter. She is not, and never would be a bar girl, but many of those bar girls are her friends. Those friends have been to our rented accomodation in Hua Hin many times, and I certainly don't feel dirty for associating with them. I would guess kendo's wife would be similar, although I'm sure he will answer that one.

My wife also knows many of the girls working there, not because of the sex trade, but because they knew each other when living in other parts of Thailand.

If you seriously ask your wives, I think you will find that they would much rather go to areas like Soi 94 or other areas outside the binta scene, maybe I'm wrong but my wife has no interest in that area, but then she doesn't drink, doesn't like ear splitting music, and would prefer a nice restaurant, so why would go there other than to drink or (single man) to play?

So far Big Boy, you (and your wife) have been here as tourists. You may find her attitude a lot different once you live here.

Exactly, tourists in a holiday resort. Why should living there change things? I certainly hope my wife will not abandon her many friends in the area. Regarding my daughter, she has probably lived in Hua hin longer than you.

Me as well these days. My wife would opt for Soi 94 almost every time purely based on the cost. However, I still get the request to take her to this bar or that restaurant in the Banthabat area because she wants to catch up with old friends. There have been times that she's plotted quite a pub crawl with the intention of meeting old friends  .

As I've already said, the sex thing is for others, and as long as it's not directly affecting me, it's no different to somebody on the next table in my UK local kopping off with a young lady for the first time.

HHF when i am on holiday i don't drive i spend 11 months of the year driving crane's and on my days off doing courier work and driving my van around the U.K.

When on holiday i will drink every day so i let some one else do the driving, i also enjoy a slow bimble (walk) around there are plenty of nice restaurants to eat at right in the heart of town.

My life is always very fast and i work a lot of hours, i am very happy to be in the heart of town and not go to far.

My wife is a very social person she chats and makes friends everywhere no problem there, before she has gone to find some somtam, came back and i have been playing connect 4 with a girl on the bar and she has not got upset.

HHF i bet your wife has lived outside Thailand in your home country and now has a different opinion on lower class Thai's right or wrong.

Kendo.

I sometimes get dragged down there by my partner for the pool league!

Ok, like it or not, deny it or not, all of you who have answered (lately) are tourists. Kendo, Big Boy, Steve G, when you and your family have lived here continuously for a few years, get back to me and let me know how often you still visit that area... I suspect it will die off (your regular list) within a year of living here and you'll start looking at the outer parts of town to spend your time.

OK..is there one country in Europe where this is the norm?? :?
Is this just a 'Skandi-on-holiday' action..?
Do these folk do it in their own towns/cities back 'home'..?? (somehow I think not).
Are the Farangs doing the same in Pattaya & Patong..??
Is it just me that as a youngster was taught to wait on the pavement till there was nothing
coming..then proceed.
(If you hear of an irrate motorcyclist blowing his horn & shouting 'get out of the f***in' road
it may be my good self.. :guns: )
OK, another rant over with..
In your country are motorbikes allowed to drive on the wrong side going the wrong way?

Or as my long time expat friend says there is no wrong way for motorbikes. Do you drive your motorbike exactly the same in your home country?

Farangs walking the way you describe in Pattaya are in serious trouble, the most dangerous thing in Pattaya is crossing the street. Pedestrian accidents are commonplace.

But seriously there is almost no pavement to walk on in the area you talk about.

Give the tourists a break IMO.

That sounds like a weak argument to me :duck: I really hope my wife doesn't completely change her circle of friends. However, you could be right when we have a permanent base. Maybe the friends will come to us, rather than we visit them.

I still see no problem in taking a pregnant Thai wife down to the Binthabat area. The area where kendo said the incident happened is as touristy as it gets in Hua Hin.
