No I very much doubt it. The prices for a private car are very expensive, like 4000 baht. I think I will get the hotel bus or the train!

Metered Taxi is under 2500, I pay 2000.

So it's easier to get a metered cab? Do I just haggle the fair from central Bangkok?

Yeah, there are plenty of Taxi touts at the airport, haggle with a few, you may get one for 2000 but you will probably pay the toll fees etc. 2500 is a good price if it includes tolls. If you decide to get a metered taxi outside you can also haggle with them at get a set price, but make sure you ask about the toll fees as well. There is a member on here that you can pm and they will sort you out a pick up from the airport. Can't remember their name, I'm sure someone on here will.

Could do, I use one from Hua Hin but I'm sure with the Bangkok Taxis on the meter it's about 2000 baht.

It obviously depends if the driver is willing to drive to HH and you certainly shouldn't be paying more than 2500.

I pay 1800 for private taxi from BKK to HH, and very good driver.

So all the Thais from Bkk will swell the coffers of the restaurants and visit the attractions which is good for the HH economy as the town has been so quiet for a few months. The floating markets will be busy for once - oh the irony!!

Funny thread, OP inquired about the non existent floods in HH, which is easy to fathom out with half a brain, and we have covered 'God knows what' in between.........does anyone read any news sites?

Many people are bringing their cars to park in Hua Hin and then taking the bus back. That has made it hard to navigate some roads like Soi 88. The traffic is too much for me already. Looks like walking or staying home. Great for Hua Hin businesses. I doubt anyone could get a room now if they needed one.

Cheers Winkie. That's interesting news. I think this will pass in the next few days. But then again it may be down to Cathay Pacific, who may have to change our flights around if we can't get into Bangkok or complete our holiday itinarary. Fingers crossed everything is ok two weeks and three days from now when I get to BKK from HKK.

Today is the last day of the 'holiday' so things should start to calm down this week, how are supplies in the shops?

Town's been mobbed lately but as you say it may ease off now with the end of the holiday. I'll wait and see.
As the thread has said, drinking water is available at corner shops but you'll find pretty much nothing in 7-11s, Family Marts and larger places. Eggs are scarce as are cooking sauces and so on but overall I don't think the situation is too bad at local markets. I'll follow up on that later as the missus is doing a weekly shop at Chatchai soon. We both expect that prices will have increased quite a bit.
