TV series worth watching/downloading
Re: TV mini-series/HBO
Another one that appears to be very good is currently running on HBO. It's a medieval action drama with a good dose of fantasy thrown in.
It takes place mostly on an Island that, from the map, resembles England, but with make-believe cities or Kingdoms. There is a giant wall separating what appears to be England from what would be Scotland and north of the wall (which must be constantly guarded) lives all manner of wild people and beasties. Summers and Winters last for years at at time and some born in a season have yet to see the other one. Across a body of salt water that appears to represent the English channel is another tribe of fierce heathen warriors (in what would be France) who are being befriended by an exiled (island) royal and his sister who marries a savage to bond and gain an army towards the purpose of retaking and uniting the island kingdoms.
The series is actually an American fantasy and though the characters speak with a British accent and when it shows the map it resembles the UK and France it is supposedly a fictional land. Its new, created this year, and four episodes have already aired so I suggest trying to download it to see it from the beginning. From what I've seen so far it is very enjoyable and entertaining. The cast has some fairly big names as well.
It's got a rare 9.4 out of 10 rating on IMDB...

Re: TV mini-series/HBO
"Pillars of the Earth" that Sandman mentioned above starts this month (Sept) on the 21st on StarMovies.
Follet also wrote a sequel or follow up to that book called "World Without End" and it in itself is an incredibly entertaining read.

Re: TV mini-series/HBO
I never watch any of these programmes on scheduled TV any more, as it's so much more convenient being able to watch whenever I feel like it or have the time. Also many of them are cut to pieces by the time the Thai censors have whacked their weenies over the naughty bits.
HHF, do you still have "World Without End"? If so, I'd really love to borrow it. Pretty please. Isn't there a third book as well?

A question for the 'acquisition' meister - if I'm given a choice of download sites for a film from OneClickMoviez and the first one says something like 'invalid' or 'removed' is that automatically going to be the case with all of the other possible sites listed?

not the case mate....some file hosters are more subject to onlne regulation than others....depends where the company has its HQ and the servers are. So when a download on Megaupload is not available, Gigasze or 2Shared may have it....its a case of try em all one by one. Megaupload and Hotfile and Rapidshare are the most vulnerable to DMCA actions apparently, Fileserve less so.
Oneclick also usually have multple posts for each flm dont forget, so look up all the posts (you can use the search box for that) and check each lnk - the separate posts will all have their own links.
HHF
That series is GAME OF THRONES mate....and has been cut to hell for Thai TV....get the download versions...much better. An example is that they cut a whole key scene out of the jousting match whch means some of the later stuff wont make as much sense now.
sorry for the typos....keyboard has an attack of termites again.

^ Unfortunately, I'm stuck with watching it on TV for now as I'm using a year 2000 Pentium III machine that doesn't do downloads too well, not to mention that the hard drives are full to bursting with our own photos.

Re: TV mini-series/HBO
HHF - ask your missus to look for DVD copies of it from a hooky DVD shop/stall/lad...Ive seen em at the night market. They will be the uncut versions.
Now.....something hot off the press
Mad mwaaaa haaaaa haaaaa science time!
One to keep an eye out for on Discovery Science or online is DARK MATTERS : TWISTED BUT TRUE.
The series is all about the darker aspects of the last 100 years of scientific research - MK ULTRA, The Philidelphia Experiment, Zombinol research, KGB/CIA psi experiments, head transplants, etc....all true or thought to be true, and fascinating classic mad scientist stuff
Program 1 covered soviet attempts to cross breed apes with men, the battle of the currents, and the Philly experiment.
Its presented by the bloke who played the mad steward of Gondor in LOTR...who does a very convincing Vincent Price alike.
Out online.

Re: TV mini-series/HBO
I'm watching the first (so far) series of THE WALKING DEAD (OneDDL) and thoroughly enjoying it. I'm not usually a zombie fan at all, but this one hits the spot for reasons probably best left unexplored! Not to be watched while eating spaghetti bolognese...
Just started downloading TUDORS, which I hope will be as good as THE DEVIL'S WHORE.
PILLARS OF THE EARTH excellent
, GAME OF THRONES excellent

(HHF - let me know if you want to take copies of this on a flashdrive, as I'll probably delete soon.)

A sad loss... I watched both seasons of this mini series that were made so far and was/am looking forward to the next installment, but will miss this talented actor.
R.I.P. Spartacus!

Very sad - had not realised that he had been suffering with cancer.
Welsh-born actor Andy Whitfield, star of the US television series Spartacus: Blood And Sand, has died at the age of 39, his manager has said.
Whitfield, who played the title role in the controversial swords and sandals drama, had been diagnosed with cancer.
He was found to have non-Hodgkin lymphoma during a routine check-up last year just before filming began on the second season of the drama, set during the Roman Empire.
Doctors said at the time that the cancer was detected in its early stages and was “very treatable”.
Whitfield’s manager, Sam Maydew, said he died of non-Hodgkin lymphoma in Sydney, Australia, on Sunday.

Don't know if you kept up with this one SM, but I recently downloaded Season 1 of ''Falling Skies'' and am a few episodes in - all good Sci-Fi entertainment so far and would certainly recommend!!

One to watch out for coming later this year.....
(from ABC's press release, May 2011)
"The River" follows the story of wildlife expert and TV personality Emmet Cole. Emmet set course around the world with his wife, Tess, and son, Lincoln, while filming what would become one of the most popular shows in television. After he goes missing deep in the Amazon, his family, friends and crew set out on a mysterious and deadly journey to find him. Famed explorer Dr. Emmet Cole (Bruce Greenwood) went looking for magic deep in the uncharted Amazon and never returned. The shocking truth about his disappearance is out there, somewhere, just waiting to be discovered. To the millions of kids who grew up watching his nature show, Dr. Cole was a hero. To his own son, Lincoln (Joe Anderson), he was more of an enigma. Now, six months after he vanished, Lincoln is finally ready to bury the past when Dr. Cole's emergency beacon suddenly goes off. At the urging of his mother, Tess (Leslie Hope), Lincoln reluctantly joins her on a search for his father. To fund the rescue, they agree to let Dr. Cole's cagey ex-producer, Clark (Paul Blackthorne), film the mission documentary-style.
