Bangkok Hospital Experience
I would just like to share my recent experience of visiting our local hospital.

Last Thursday I visited the hospital check-in desk and reported my symptoms where upon I was asked to take a seat. Two minutes later my blood pressure, weight and height were taken. After ten minutes I was seen by a doctor and a diagnosis quickly made. I was informed I needed to be admitted straight away. I confirmed that I had Medical Insurance. I then went for blood tests & saline drip. 10 minutes later I was on my way in a wheel chair to the CT scanner. I was then informed an MRI scan was needed. Thankfully Hua Hin has had this recently installed. 40 odd minutes later I was on my way to the ward where the Dr discussed and showed me the scan findings and explained that I needed to be transferred to Bangkok Hospital to see a specialist there. Dinner was served, Soup, pork & apple sauce & vegetables and fruit desert – actually quite tasty. Before long I was whisked away in an ambulance to Bangkok. I arrived at 20:50 and was seen 10 minutes later, assessed by an specialist Dr and told what was going to happen. A wait of about 40 minutes followed before I was taken to my room. Various scans and test were done in the following days. Before discharge all medications were fully explained and I was given report complete with CD which I have yet to explore.

The whole episode spanned five days and I was returned home to Hua Hin by hospital van.

To cut things short from the moment I arrived at both hospitals everything was handled with care and efficiency and all together a very good experience for my first time visit to any hospital.

One thing to note is that the hospital appears to encourage family members to take part in the care of their relatives. They even provide sleeping arrangements. Check this out to make sure.

I feel a photo coming on!

This is fairly common in Thailand. I have visited both government, military and private hospitals many times over the years and this has always been observed.

Yes we have little in the way of visiting times--visiting times are as much about when you cant come as when you can.
The family helping with care is a wonderful thing for both patient and family.

There has to be some caution--some farang families get all resentful if it suggested that they take part in the care---'Thats your job to feed her, not mine"

^^Yes, it's essential in many places because the level of nursing care isn't what you might expect. I spent some weeks in hospital last year - it wasn't a bundle of laughs, but I can't imagine how I'd have got through it if Mrs D-M hadn't been there.

However, not really on topic.

By the way, as an impartial observer (impartial in the sense that I'm never going to qualify for the level of insurance that I'd need for treatment by Bangkok Hospital) I feel a bit sorry for Dr Mike. But as someone said earlier, he's put himself up here to be shot at, although that may not have been his intention. Unfortunately, a cozy bit of friendly advice and promotion for the hospital will inevitably be counterbalanced by complaints of one kind or another. If I were Dr Mike I'd be taking these seriously, but acting as a conduit only and making it quite clear that they would be dealt with by PM or email.

I'd also be changing those webbed chairs.

But I wouldn't be looking for older nurses! :naughty:
This is the way

WE had a lunch for ladies at the hospital last Wednesday--I was amazed 33 ladies said they were coming and 31 came. I suspect that if had been men it would have been 33 signed up----about 20 show up. At least 13 would decide that they were way behind in their staring at clouds time and could not make it.

It was really good--lots of useful praise/critisism/ advice.

it was suggested that we have disease specific discussions--perhaps DIABETES as it is so commom or different approaches to Prostate Cancer, I get a lot of mail about that.
Probably in the fall when the 6 monther crowd start to come back.
Any thoughts????

^ Any general medicine doctor or internist would do, but you should probably see a Cardiologist.
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

Went through the online registration form twice.

Get down to enter the security code.
All that is there is a : sign.

Enter that it says no that is wrong.

Not going to fill it out again.

Looked for a Tel # on the site.

Can't find one.

Any ideas???

In the "misery loves company" category, I just experienced what you described. Using IE 9, finally got all the way to the bottom of the online registration form, and then the "security code" graphic is not displayed. Interestingly, using Opera 11.11, there are fewer fields to complete, and some are in a different sequence, but still no "security code" displayed.

I'm trying to contact my BH-HH physician electronically, since I don't want to disrupt her day by telephoning and making her drop everything to deal with (what I hope is) a non-critical issue.

Her name is nowhere to be found on the BH-HH site, either...

Dr. Mike, I was going to send you (via PM) a copy of the e-mail I sent to huahin.at.bangkokhospital.com (using the @ symbol, obviously), the only e-mail address on the BH-HH web site, hoping you could forward a copy to her. But for some glorious reason, my recently updated Thunderbird 5.0 did not save a copy of the message. <sigh....>

CORRECT

A negative test shows that a ta point about 2-3 months ago you did not have HIV/AIDS.
That is quite sufficient for job clearance

For people who are concerned after a worrying experience you have to wait for the recommended period.

For men who are having unprotected sex frequently, a test once or twicea year is a good idea.
