richard, my response answered your question precisely. If you want more, maybe you should re-phrase the question to ask for what it is you want.

Re: The Digital Surgery
I have it running on XP Pro and on Windows 7 Starter. I do get the strange security message on the xp machine occasionally that I mentioned before, but other that, no problems on either.
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?
Re: The Digital Surgery
Crazy88,Crazy, I may have an answer for you about increasing your wireless coverage but I have to find it and it's almost my bed time.... get back to you tomorrow!
I still haven't found the information I was trying to find for you.
If you haven't solved your problem here are a couple of sites with suggestions, but the one I found before had a way to actually log into your wireless router and turn up the signal strength, however, it did mention that with some routers it was dangerous (to them) because it could cause them to overheat. It suggested turning it up a little at a time and stop when the router started to get too hot. I'm still looking for that site and if I find it I will post it for you.

Crazy,
Of course, when I stopped looking and posted that last post, I stumbled across the article I was talking about that mentions boosting the (TX) power of the router. I had read it in an email newsletter I subscribe to but forgot just where I saw it!

Re: The Digital Surgery
FF4 and Win7 works like a charm - we do find there are often a lot of ID-one-zero-t problems posted here though!

Thanks Buksi
I know I'm not the sharpest knife in the draw
I have been happy with FF4 and Win7 since the time you converted me from Vista to Win 7 however this is baffling me. All was well until last week I downloaded Advanced Systems software and ran there Malware product. FF4 then ceased to load. After rebooting and then deleting the AS stuff and FF I rebooted and reloaded FF4.
It is installed but wont load up. It's running background processes so I cannot delete it unless I reboot

Re: The Digital Surgery
It seems to me then that this 'Advanced Systems' software (whatever that is) caused your problems so I would remove all traces of it - including registry entries - remove FF, install Malwarebytes, update it, run a full scan deleting anything found. Then reboot and reinstall FF.

Re: The Digital Surgery
I have to admit that FF4 (even though it was running on my old XP machine) was getting that error message I mentioned once in a while and was running slower (supposed to be faster) on this machine that FF 3.6. I went back today by uninstalling FF4 and reloading FF3.6.13 and on this older machine, it is much faster than FF4 and no further error messages. Both worked, and FF4 works better on my newer machine (I think) but the older FF definitely works faster (uses less memory and processor time) than FF4.

Re: The Digital Surgery
hhf, there are known memory leakage issues with newer versions of FF and XP, I've had to roll back a couple on old office computers running XP.
richard, remember the old saying: if it ain't broke, don't fix it ... same applies to machines! Downloading unfamiliar software willy nilly will result in a cranky computer!

Re: The Digital Surgery
^ Yes, FF 3.6.+ seems to work better (faster, and use less resources) on my older XP machine. Also, there is a very light browser, K-Meleon that I downloaded and am trying (right now as I type this) and it uses less than half the memory of FireFox according to Task Manager (same number of tabs open). It doesn't have all the add-ons and personalization that FF does but it may be better for older machines like mine as it uses less resources than any other browser out there according to tests I've seen.
