Totally agree but the transfer window closes at 11pm on Monday, that's what really stinks, the timing of it.Spitfire wrote:Have to agree with Arcadian on this one. If Torres wants to be transferred, then "Sod off dude!"

Well at least until it suits him to move on, "slice of the transfer money to me and my agent"

Re: Premier League 2010-2011
as torres is under 'contract' (for what they're worth
) until 2013 (with an option for a further year
), any decision is down to liverpool, transfer request or not.
chelsea can't afford him . . . .roman can though
but i would expect other clubs, particularly man.c to come in with late bids if they do decide to sale, a bidding war would send the price sky high

Liverpool look set to be spending some serious moolah...
LIVERPOOL want England striker Andy Carroll to replace Fernando Torres.
Kenny Dalglish's Reds are set to make a £30million move for the Newcastle No9 if Torres joins Chelsea today.
And that is not all, with Liverpool also plotting a £15m swoop for Aston Villa winger Ashley Young plus an improved £8m bid for Blackpool's Charlie Adam.
Carroll, 22, will TRIPLE his £30,000-a-week wages by signing on at Anfield.
Kop director of football Damien Comolli has made Toon hero Carroll his No1 target and has spent the last 72 hours lining up his man.
It is a clear sign that the Merseysiders are already planning for life after Spaniard Torres, 26, despite officially insisting last week that the World Cup winner is not for sale.
Even without Carroll, Liverpool could take their transfer window spending to £45.5m in just four days with the signings of 25-year-old England star Young and Scotland midfielder Adam, also 25.
Their Anfield arrivals would follow that of Uruguayan striker Luis Suarez, 24, whose club Ajax agreed a £22.5m fee with Liverpool last Friday.
Maybe a little too late to change the sway of anything this year but if all these signings go through they should certainly be looking at a top four spot for next season. That would mean the 'big' six of City, Spurs, Poonited, Chelsea, Arsenal along with the scousers battling for that Champions league place. Makes it a lot more interesting. I couldn't stand having a league where only one or two teams are contenders each year. How boring that must be. Rangers and Celtic.... Real Madrid and Barcalona... a few more also. Hopefully Liverpool can help out spurs a little by taking some points off the teams above with the help of new additions to the squad. Spurs are looking a little doubtful of retaining a place with the elite but there's still a long way to go yet. Notice how we purposely lost to Fulham in the cup so we can concentrate on that 4th spot, so you can see it's being put at the top of the agenda.

REDS AGREE CARROLL FEE
Liverpool FC confirmed this afternoon that Newcastle United had accepted a Club record offer for the transfer of Andy Carroll.
The Club have been given permission by Newcastle to discuss personal terms with the player, who will now travel to Liverpool for a medical.
Believed to be £35 million
Cracking player though, a beast, even if we've payed massively over the odds, pretty much swapped Torres and Babel for Suarez and Carroll.

Now I guess one question is what is that b'tard of an owner at Newcastle going to do with the money, pocket it, or buy players?

Some massive spending been done this window.
Amazing how Torres retained such a valuation given his form of recent but I'm sure he'll come through as a star again. If both Torres and Drogba start playing at their best that must be the most deadly strikeforce in English football... possibly even world football.
Spurs could have done with a couple more players to boost the squad but all rumours have been quashed to date.

Re: Premier League 2010-2011
The football world has gone mad. Crazy prices.
David Villa £34 million (Worth the price tag)
Tevez £25 million (worth the price tag)
Balotelli £22.5million (not worth it, got an ego the size of big ben and wants out already)
Lescott £24 million ( Laughable, barely gets a game but sits on his a*** and collects £90k a week)
Ronaldo £80 million ( Bit over the top money wise but he is one of the best players in the world)
Torres £50 million ( Can understand paying this 3 years ago when he was at his best but has struggled the last 2 seasons, maybe he just wanted out of Liverpool and couldn't be bothered??)
and now Andy Carrol £35 million is a massive gamble, he's only had 6 months experience in the prem and he is injured at the moment. I'm not saying that he wont be a massive hit for Liverpool but it's a bit excessive to say the least. Only time will tell.
I wonder what Messi & Ronaldo are now worth if these prices are anything to go by!!!!

Can we get a real quick read which of these players will be playing in their new homes today and tomorrow? Carrol is out. Pete

Suarez can play wednesday and he is class.

Re: Premier League 2010-2011
It goes without saying I'm thrilled Torres is at Chelsea and it will be interesting to see who makes way for him? But Anleka, Drogba and Torres all playing together is a possibility, especially as Anelka tends to fill the 'hole' more these days, which means a 3-man midfield from Malouda, Lamps, Essian, Mikel, Ramires and McEachran!!!!
It will be interesting to see Ancelotti's 1st selection when all available and fit?
My guess is that Torres will start from the bench with new centre back David Luiz alongside Terry and Ivanovic at right back. And we still have Alex to return!
It does kind of strengthen our squad somewhat.

Re: Premier League 2010-2011
Well, a good start for Suarez...
Just heard that Liverpool take on Chelsea at the weekend. Will be rooting for a Liverpool victory there but I just have a feeling that Torres will pip the winner in the 92nd minute.
Spurs have closed 4 points on City in the last 2 games, City having dropped 5 points with a loss and a draw. A needed 1-0 away for Spurs against Blackburn puts us in with a hope again. A man of the match display from the Gomez the Goalie-class act... as I said before, may this be a long and crippling blip for Man City. I think they are really our only hope now with Chelsea's strengthening of their squad, Man U's 'Unlosability' at the moment and Arsenals top form. We can only hope.Four years ago, Torres took just 16 minutes of his Anfield debut to open his account against, you've guessed it, Chelsea.
Last night Suarez, a 63rd-minute sub, needed the same amount of time to do likewise.
