I'm personally sorry about all that Choann. The problem arises from the quantity of spammers and others with bad intent that we get on here. People get suspicious as so many fake their knowledge of English to try to appear to be someone they're not.

It would be best when you frequent any forum to use the ID facility when you sign up to show where you're from and when you make an introduction, tell the forum that you are Thai or from whatever country.

HHAD is a good forum and also has a Thai language section. I hope you'll come back and try again. Now that we know who you are, I'm sure you'll get a much friendlier reception. Pete

Hi Choann,
Did not meen to upset you and will say sorry for that, but you should have intraduced yourself in the intraductions section and stated what company you work for and the reason for you research.
Everyone is very cautious about giving up any personal data, my courier business established e-mail account gets 40 to 50 scam mails a week usually over the weekend mainly from Nigeria and also a lot of advertizing spam.
For example on Friday I had 43 e-mails I genuine enquiry for me to do a job, a friend sent me a couple of funny joke mails and the rest was scams and spams.
It is also common know for companys to sale your personal information and data without your knowlage and there is not a lot you can do to stop this and this is how you get loads of spam.

HHAD is a nice community stick around you will like it, and once again sorry and no offence intended.

Kendo. x

Hi I do not think anyone called you a swindler. The thing is today that people have to be cautious about what information they give out over the internet. Nobody looks down on anyone who does not speak English 100% In fact your English is quite good. I am sure that there are a lot of English speak people who cannot speak Thai!! So, having said that, do not take some of the comments to heart. I am sure that the general intention was to warn people that you may not be genuine, they did not know you, they did not know whether or not that you were a swindler. I still stand by my comments and still make a rule not to give too much personal information out on Forums or places like Facebook. I advise you to do the same. We did have years of unwanted begging emails from people in Nigeria. So chin up.. :)

Glad to hear that you got some response.

You cant blame people being slightly suspicious when this was your first post requesting personal data on property ownership. Also when you mention vouchers Im afraid thats got SCAM written all over it....

I would nt let one bad experience put you off. If you post again then get a Native speaker ideally English to check and edit your post. With the right language and approach / question Im sure you would get a better approach next time. But dont mention those vouchers!

Maybe you should try a second Post. You may be surprised on the response? Just dont ask for personal data..

Yes Ann, you'll have to forgive the sceptical/cynical response of many posters, especially those that have lived here for a while or have experience of Asia.

If it's a serious business expansion, as initially proposed as a possibility by SJ, then get in touch with the Admin of the forum, they can and will help under the obvious usual circumstances.

As I mentioned, right medium/place to inquire, just that you went in too quick and a bit wildly. Many foreigners are timid and distrustful about this kind of stuff as we are aware of the problems with giving away personal information, especially on the Internet, it's a big no-no these days.

Good luck.

I cant understand why everybody takes things for granted and write bad about it and then knowing the truth afterwards, they try to apologise. Ann had already givien her email address in the first place, then why didn't anybody give her advise on what to post in order to get the right feedback. if you people can take the time to write bad or being nigerian or whatever i am sure with some positive approach, they could have taken the same amount of time and come of with something that could have helped her. There are lots of scam but then there are also some good intention inquiry too. I recieive a lot lof mails that i have won lottery or some rawandan orphane wanting to transfer money. I always reply to them that i would be glad to help them but i am not putting a single penny in their account and then it suddenly stops.

Well I suppose it takes all sorts as the saying goes! I personally would not reply to any begging letters. Begging letters also give their email addresses. Someone giving you an email address means nothing really. Email address can be changed! I do not think for one second that the begging letters will stop by replying to them! In fact by replying would only make things worse in my opinion. Just block them!! I also think that to "warn" someone is not an insult. All the comments made were to protect other people from giving out their "life history" and personal details online to a complete stranger. There was no need to apologise as there was nothing at all bad written about Ann. I think it was just a polite and friendly gesture towards Ann to clarify the comments that were made. The general view was "beware of scams" nothing personal to Ann. Maybe it was not explained clearly by Ann in the first place. When people sometimes say "sorry" it can also mean "sorry for the misunderstanding". Not the comment. Same as "Sorry I did not hear you clearly".... Anyway, it is time for Ann to forgive and forget if she felt insulted. :)

You wanna bet!

I've read the dialogue on this post and it still seems to me to be a scam / phishing. If it is a legit person / business then they'll go through the normal practice of contacting the site's administration and taking it from there.

Me and my friend got 'pulled' by a couple of attractive Thai females just across the way from Buffalo Bill's place. "Would we help in a survey by the Tourist Authority about foreigner attitudes to Hua Hin?" Why not we thought. A few bland questions, then a question to establish our nationality. Then where were we staying in Hua Hin? For How long? What age group were we - 50 to 60, when were we leaving HH?

At some point we twigged this was a commercial lead in - they were trying to flog us something - it transpired it was a time share scam.

It has been said, "a fool and his money are soon parted" - and when it comes to me and bar girls that is just so so true - I've no money left for the other 'good' causes. :D

HT.
It may be rubbish - but by golly it's British rubbish.

I am not really bothered either way with what the OP was up to, does not interest me so just ignore it.

BUT, I would be interested to know what the reaction would be on a Thai forum, if a Falang posted similar "requests"?
