The site indicated does not look all that big - clinic size. Getting in and out could be interesting in the late afternoon and evening what with the recently opened music high school and the open air market.

If you're talking about the school and market south of the flyover they should be no problem as the hospital building site is well north of the flyover.
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

You're right that it's not a very large site, that struck me, but then we don't yet know how many floors they're going up.

It's on about 6+ Rai of land by my guestimation (counting the wall sections), a bit larger than as Sao Paolo's plot!?!? But as said before plot size can be a bit irrelevant if they go up, say, 155 floors

I have always used Bangkok Pattaya Hospital for my annual medical check ups which I have every five or so years.
Started going there many years ago when I used to go to Pattaya for golf.
Always found them excellent and a couple of months ago, they gave me a fairly good report following what I considered a very professional examination.
My summary: In not bad shape except for my shape.
Since I have been here in Thailand, I first used Bumrungrad for my annual physical until they screwed up my reservations and proved impossible to contact at one point when I switched to Bangkok Hospital in Bangkok. They were excellent and I stayed with them for several years. I left them only because they were a bitch to get to from the central part of Bangkok. I kept getting lost and having to take taxis and/or wait for hours for their free van.
But I do rejoice that we will eventually have a real hospital here . .though I have yet to try the highly praised military hospital south of Hua hin. (Petcharat is good but that drive seems endless!)
I now have my annual physical at the much smaller Bangkok Nursing Hospital which is centrally located and an easy walk from the Dusitani. Nice folks and excellent doctors.
Just down the road from there and on the BTS is St. Louis Hospital... as good as Bum' or Bangkok imo at half the price because it's a not-for-profit hospital run by the Catholic church.

Is construction continuing at the Hua Hin site? This article indicates the Group is freezing investment this year and I wonder if that includes building in progress. Pete

Yes, as strghe said it's proceeding, there was a bit of time with nothing happening after the piling contractor had left site, but fairly recently the main contractor has set-up camp.
Think they've put their new planned Dubai hospital on hold. Selected extracts below from article about the new Hua Hin one ...

Now they are more cautious, and none are spending extravagantly given the uncertain outlook. The executives from Bangkok Dusit Medical Services (BDMS), Phya Thai Hospital or Samitivej Hospital have not committed to big investments in the coming year.
BDMS operates the Bangkok Hospital Group, BNH Hospital, the Samitivej Hospitals and the Royal International Hospital. Most of the investment budget in 2010 will go to the construction of a medium-sized hospital in Hua Hin in Prachauap Khiri Khan province. The hospital is expected to open in the first half of 2011. Besides the construction of the hospital in Hua Hin, BDMS will spend to replace old medical equipment."
