Immature yes, something to prove, no. Accepting a challenge, yes.
This is my very first forum experience and a great shock and disappointment. I didn't know that people used these things to vent and be so mean. Now I do. I also have learned a lot of new vocabulary and defintions I didn't know and that in itself made it worth the insults.
Sorry if you had to feel you must defend your" territory". The "new kid on the block" always gets beat up. Lions mark their territory by urinating around it and gangbangers mark it with grafitti. Forum writers mark theirs with insults. Guess we aren't as evolved as we thought.

and usually do not go out of their way to insult or belittle anybody. If you think you have been treated unkindly, seek firstly the reason
for this in yourself. This forum, like most of the interactions in the adult world, is a mirror showing you your own attitudes and actions.
When you gather more experience of the internet fora you'll see this was one of the better ones, with no built-in hate for the newcomer.
