Deep Fat Fryer

Post by Mr T »

Maybe a strange one,
But does anyone know anywhere to buy a deep fat fryer?
When my wife was over in Scotland she thought it was a great thing, I wouldnt mind being able to make my own chunky chips also.
It would be nice to find before I make one of my visiting family members carry one over for me. lol

Tesco Lotus sell them as far as I can remember - but not very strong.

To get a sturdy stainless stee one, go to Makro and/or the shop just outside the entrance to Makro

Have you checked Index? They have a huge area of kitchen implements, pots and pans.

Also the Thai store on the corner of the market street (Sra Song) and Chomsin used to have a good selection of cheaper local kitchenware.

You'll get your MAKRO-card from reception on your way in to Makro. It used to be that you
had to make a combined purchase of no less that 2.000 B on you first visit to get your card.

This was valid info two years ago, do not know of today. Btw. I do not think Makro is
cheaper than other places, but they do have an excellent selection of meat.

Thanks guys, I will check out Makro.
I did try Index but again only rice cookers, I guess they do look similar so may have missed them.
I will tell the family to hold off on their hand carry. :)

Yep, we have one, although we bought it in Index (surprisingly cheaper...) - it looks like a miniature of the sort of fryer you'd see in a fish 'n chips shop!

Incidentally, we've been using Makro for years without a Makro card.
This is the way

We've got this appliance that's brand named "Alaska".
It's a bit bigger than a regular rice cooker and is very versatile. You can steam vegetables, fish etc etc. Also, there's a chip pan strainer.
It gets seriously hot if you want and we havn't tried to do chips yet but I bet it would work.
It was a wedding present from my wife's family so must have been bought locally. I'll ask her from where.
