moving assistance
I am moving from near center of city to 10 km south. Does anyone know of a company or those with a big truck that can assist in the moving?

It really depends on how much you want to pay, and how much you value your belongings.
We've moved twice and used friends the first time (we didn't have that much stuff) and hired a local cattle truck for the move from Nakhon Pathom down here. The cattle truck was OK, but they wanted more dosh to unload the things at the other end (with us doing most of the work), and they really didn't have that much respect for my precious things.
We're moving back up to Nakhon Pathom at the end of this month and we're doing it with Pickfords. They have an office in Bangkok - just Google Pickfords Bangkok and they'll give an on-line quote. They provide boxes, and it's all moved in a 'proper' truck with a roof - quite important at this time of the year!. The cost to move us from here to there is around 20,000 baht. Yeh, it's more expensive than a local wagon, but moving is stressful enough without the added hassles.
If you don't want to pay that much, ask around locally. There's usually someone, who knows someone with a truck. Just make sure that you negotiate the price beforehand.
Good luck.

Update on removals...
Just an update on removals.
I was praising Pickfords and their reasonable quote - they got it wrong. When I checked the quote it was for a Transit sized van and to the wrong location (Nakhon Phanom
). A rep. came to have a look at our stuff and the re-quote was 40,000 baht and a two-day job!
We decided to go cattle truck again. For 8,000 baht all our worldly goods were loaded up, transported (with a tarpaulin over everything) and unloaded at this end. We started at 9am and by 3pm everything was unloaded in Nakhom Pathom.
They're not actually a removal firm, but they do have the kit and the bodies to do the job. They're also a reliable and trustworthy family - which helps.
Their telephone number is 089 9100451 or 086 0776033. They don't speak any English, so you'd need a Thai helper.

Hi VS - what a shame you've had to leave HH area and that bargain house! All the best in your new home though and I hope everything made it in one piece! (Including Mr VS of course.)
