Yes, compensation was the last thing on my mind at the time. I honestly don't believe the cleaning lady had a clue that she had done me. Of course there would have been CCTV, but a lot of effort in Thailand. Yes, I may have won, but it would have taken a lot of time.

Regarding the cost, this is only part 3 of 8. There will be developments.

If there are still developments I would ask a lawyer. I had some OK experiences with the lawyer at Makro parking... let the lady Khun Parichat, handle it, she is competent and understands Thai law. When I asked her for assessments she always gave a sound advise.
Give it shot...

^ It would definitely be worth seeing if the service station has customer liability insurance that covers this situation.
If it happened in a local noodle shop, you'd have no chance but you would think a national fuel company would have a policy.

My problem is I am housebound at the moment, and can't get anywhere. Even then, we're already 12 days since the accident, and I'd guess CCTV will have been overwritten. It would be my word against theirs.

[Edit] I am not discounting the suggestion, and may just fire off an e-mail anyway.

The other problem is winning any case for damages, whatever, and actually getting the money, which is a whole other bun fight.

Going back to your injury. Did they provide a more detailed analysis of what you actually did, other than 'smashed'? When you said you would have to learn to walk again, I decided to look up breaking a femur, and it's about as bad as any break to a leg bone can be!

Not really. That was about as good as it got.

Unfortunately, a lot of people are telling me the same. Progress is slow, but there's definitely progress.

Well, that's a positive!

I don't want to sound too critical, but considering the money you are paying, I would expect a better diagnosis than what you have received.

X-Rays are the property of the patient as they are paid for. You should be able to get hold of them, or at least look at them to see the break pre-op. I would think they'll x-ray it again down the road a bit to assure all is sound and healing properly.

Actually, I did ask if I could see the post op x-ray. The doctor said most definitely no, as the hospital owned the intellectual property rights to all x-rays. I did keep on at her, and did eventually catch a glimpse.

As I said to Martinoo, that was the cost at that stage. The actual cost was a fraction of quoted price.

Now, we all know many doctors work several hospitals whilst they are here, and I think (can't be sure) he was talking to A&E Dept, and thought I was in Bangkok Hospital.

Hopefully a small fraction!

Thanks for sharing your experience and get well soon.

I doubt it. When I was taken ill, albeit at the end of covid, I spent 6 weeks in 2 hospitals, had two operations and it still didn't come to what you were quoted.
