I took this with a D700 and a 24mm lens.
Not cheap admittedly but it helps to keep me on the straight an narrow!

For the technically minded - ISO 6400 and a 2 second exposure.

This is the best effort after about 70 shots, there was too much cloud about which obscured the lightning.
