Re: Tax residency in Thailand and taxing overseas income
I do watch Ben's videos sometimes, not sure the 'expert' in the headline is apt concerning this particular topic but I think he is right in that a lot of this has been presented as a fait accompli and a huge marketing oppurtunity for 'tax consultants' all over expat media, for example the KBank emai...

Re: Small appliance repairs
This shop was very good when I went, fixed a PSU for me, reflowed all solder, changed caps etc, not sure on larger white goods but anything else should be fine. See attachement for google address/reviews etc.

Re: Hotels in Sam Roi Yot
Not a hotel per se but I went to look at a couple rooms at this newish development on Sunday - they do AirBNb/daily lets as well as monthlies - front desk will show you rooms, I don't use Facebook but they will be contactable ther or you can just show up and have a look. They also do scooter rental ...

This very interesting interactive map shows all the relationships between different VPN proividers and their ultimate owners, click on a node and at a glance see their status, logging policy, audit history and if/how many government requests they have complied with. https://embed.kumu.io/9ced55e897e...

Re: Tax residency in Thailand and taxing overseas income
Good point, my UK accountant was also involved, and it was to do with self assessment, not regular old PAYE I went through the process of getting a UTR earlier this year - or rather my tax advisor in the UK did for me. I seem to remember reading that you get a UTR if you're doing self-assessment for...

Re: Tax residency in Thailand and taxing overseas income
In the general context of the Kbank email, I stumbled on this when it was mentioned in an Integrity Legal Youtube vid, it's an older article but appears to be regularly updated and contains some interesting speculation/"insider information". Obviously take with a large pinch of salt but in...

Re: Tax residency in Thailand and taxing overseas income
Could you please tell me if all UK people have a UK HMRC UTR number.I have gone through all my papers here and can find no reference to one. I had to aquire one about 4 years ago whilst over here, it involved endless calls to HMRC before I managed to get esccalated to some higher up, I was eventual...

Re: Tax residency in Thailand and taxing overseas income
A gree with your take on this. There was a scare piece in ThaiVisa this morning something along the lines of 'OMG It's Happening' and quoting some official. Not sure whther in the article itself or in the comments but the take was basically we are going to tax all foreign income for anyone resident ...

Re: What to consider if buying a used car/motorcycle
i would like to buy a used motorcycle or car, for about 100-200,000bath. The Facebook marketplace page seems to be a good place. Can you give me some tips on what to look out for. I have bought a car locally from FB marketplace and a bike from Bahtsold, both were good experiences and I have had no i...

Re: Trustworthy house brokers?
- Is it usual for foreigners to have to provide a copy of their passport before signing a contract? Yes of course you will not find anywhere that will rent you a property without a passport copy either broker or individual unless they are incredibly shady. They are legally obliged to report your sta...

Re: Trustworthy house brokers?
No experience with that particular agent but in general here you should get a rental contract in English and Thai that you can review and request any amendemnts to before completing the rental transaction. For houses/pool villas around here worth paying attention to: 1. Is gardening and /or pool cle...
